The Vaad Hoeir, or United Orthodox Jewish Community, has supplied the essential foundations for Jewish life in St. Louis for over 80 years.

Under the direction of the Vaad's Executive Director, Rabbi Zvi Zuravin, a staff of rabbinic coordinators supervises locally manufactured kosher products, all local kosher butchers, bakeries, and food establishments, and oversees the preparation of all local kosher catered events. Its staff inspects and oversees the preparations of Passover items and publishes a Directory of Kosher for Passover products.

The Vaad Hoeir also supervises many local Jewish institutions so that everyone, from young campers to college students, patients, and the elderly all have access to kosher food.

The Vaad Hoeir is dedicated to maintaining local Shechita (kosher slaughter) providing fresh glatt kosher meat for the St. Louis community.

The Vaad Hoeir (aka, the "OV") also certifies Kosher many nationally recognized companies. The Vaad's staff of industrial rabbinic coordinators oversees facilties throughout the United States and in Canada and Mexico and China . The kashrus standards of the Vaad Hoeir meet the requirements of the major leading Kosher organizations throughout the world. The Vaad Hoeir works closely with these organizations and conducts kosher inspections in the metropolitan St. Louis area on their behalf.
